Deeply Delicous
If you ever find yourself wandering the charming streets of Deep Cove, one of Vancouver’s most picturesque spots, you have to check out Deepwater Micro Eatery. That is—if you can find it! This place is tiny (seriously, blink and you might walk right past it—like I did). But trust me, once you track it down, you’ll be very glad you did.
Deepwater is all about fresh ingredients and big flavours packed into a very small space. While it’s not an entirely gluten-free establishment, they do offer some great gluten-free options, which made this foodie very happy!
I went for the bacon cheddar burger on a gluten-free bun, and oh wow—this thing was next-level delicious. The bun held up beautifully (always a concern in the gluten-free world), the bacon was crispy, the cheddar perfectly melted, and the patty? Juicy, flavorful, and everything you want in a burger. It was the kind of meal that made me pause mid-bite just to appreciate how good it was.
And let’s talk about the fries. Perfectly crispy, just the right amount of salt and seasoning—absolute fry perfection. I didn’t check about cross-contamination with the fryer, so if you’re highly sensitive, it’s worth asking before you dig in. But if you’re in the clear, these fries are a must.
One thing to note—this spot is on the higher end price-wise. My bacon cheddar burger came in at $25, plus an additional $4 for a gluten-free bun. It’s definitely a splurge, but with the quality of ingredients and the incredible flavor, it felt worth it. Just something to keep in mind if you're budgeting for your meal!
Other gluten-free-friendly options? They offer lettuce-wrapped burgers, and their tacos are also gluten-free, making it easier to enjoy a great meal here without feeling left out.
Deepwater has both indoor and outdoor seating, so dress for the weather if you’re planning to sit outside (which, on a nice day, is totally worth it).
All in all, if you’re in Deep Cove and looking for a cozy spot with incredible food, Deepwater Micro Eatery is a must-visit. Just be prepared to fall in love with that burger—and maybe take a second lap around the block to make sure you don’t miss it!
