Summary Score Breakdown

Eating out gluten-free can be an adventure—sometimes amazing, sometimes… a little questionable. That’s why I use this simple three-part rating system to help fellow gluten-free diners know what to expect!

Taste (1-5 ⭐️)

Let’s be honest—gluten-free food can either blow your mind or leave you wondering if cardboard was an ingredient. This rating reflects the overall taste of the food, drinks, and desserts. A high rating means flavorful, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully crafted gluten-free options. A lower rating? That usually means bland dishes, a lack of variety, or gluten-free options that feel like an afterthought.

Safety (1-5 🛑)

If you’re gluten-sensitive or celiac, safety is just as important as taste. This rating considers cross-contamination risks, staff knowledge, and whether the restaurant is fully gluten-free. A place that’s 100% gluten-free? That’s a 5! But if you have to play 20 Questions with your server just to feel safe, the score goes down. Bonus points for clearly labeled menus and staff who actually get it.

Experience (1-5 ✨)

Dining out is about more than just food—it’s about the overall vibe. A cozy, welcoming restaurant with great ambiance will score high, while a simple grab-and-go spot might land lower—unless they make the to-go experience truly special. Think: beautifully packaged meals, thoughtful details, or something that makes it feel like more than just takeout.
